Start-up Kits

Our Cool Congregations Start-up Kits walk you through the process of becoming a Cool Congregation. The program is flexible and is different for every congregation. In some cases, one or two individuals are interested in starting a program in their congregation, but they soon find it’s easier for them to start in their own homes. In other cases, a congregation’s green team may wish to start a program within the congregation first, and then do a home program. There is no one size fits all. The important thing is to start somewhere with the confidence that there is ample guidance from those within the Cool Congregations community to help you along the way.

Once you’re under way with your program, you can learn about how to enter our Cool Congregations Challenge in one of four areas: energy efficiency, renewable energy, grounds & water conservation; and/inspiring people at home. Your state Interfaith Power & Light affiliate can help. Be sure to let them know of your interest in becoming a Cool Congregation, as they will likely be able to provide additional support, resources, and guidance.
